However, at MLG Dallas 2006, he lost to Ken in winners' finals and then to ChuDat in losers' finals, placing 3rd. Keep your eyes open to see what the Gamescom demo shows and for more updates in the future.Christopher Szygiel, better known by his handle PC Chris, is an American former professional Super Smash Bros. Everyone is also welcome to join their discord too. The images and clips I have seen show how much work the team has put in. I know I just started bringing you these updates for Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant, but from what I have seen so far the game is moving along great. The team also wanted to remind the backers that the Boss and Revenant designs deadline is August 31st. The mini-map also displays height differences in terrain and highlights special structures and buildings like shops or inns. Making a mini-map that works for open fields, cities and procedural levels was quite a challenge, but we found a nice solution that seems to work fine. This is also one of the things we’ve been working on lately. If you check the video above, you’ll notice that there is a mini-map in the bottom right of the screen. If you run out of stamina while using a shield, your guard will break, you will receive damage, and you won’t be able to use the shield for a short while. For every successful block or parry, you’ll spend a certain amount of stamina. Note that you can’t protect behind the shield forever, nor all attacks can be parried. Then performing the parry motion directly which is quicker and easier to time it but more risky. The first one is holding the shield and releasing at the exact time of the hit (meaning that while you’re guarding you’re protected). ![]() ![]() You can parry both melee and projectile attacks (and even deflect some of them), also reducing the stamina consumption from blocking the hit! It needs a bit of practice though, so we included two ways of performing the parry. Grimorio of Games had some more to say about these mechanics in Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant and a little about the mini-map. “Mirror” keeps existing in Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant, but we have added an additional feature to all shields: the ability to parry attacks! If the shield had attributes like “Mirror” you could deflect a magic attack back to the enemy, but this was done automatically. In the original game, shields could block attacks in front of them, and that was pretty much it. One of the mechanics we’ve been working on is the parry. We’d love to have more things for the demo, but we run out of time. We are polishing mechanics and other things. This will be the first time we showcase Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant publicly and we are a bit nervous. Remember we’ll be in the Indie Arena Booth from August 22nd to 27th. We are very busy working on having the Gamescom demo ready. The team had this briefly to say about Gamescom and the game’s mechanics: ![]() Let’s get into August’s update.Īs I have mentioned the team is hard at work prepping the Sword of the Necromancer: RevenantGamescom demo. So in this update, the team talks a bit about Gamescom, the game’s mechanics, and shows some images as well. The team is hard at work ensuring the demo is ready. This update is a little bit on the shorter side as the team gears up for Gamescom 2023. Another month means we have another Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant update. ![]()
